With the help of his Taylor Gang Entertainment imprint, Wiz Khalifa has expanded his influence into the NIL (name, image, and likeness) market by signing 25 college athletes to endorsement contracts.
According to On3, the agreement was made to promote Wiz’s “45 Minute Beatdown” tune, which features Lil Uzi Vert. Each signee was required to upload a video of themselves dancing to the song on their individual Instagram Stories earlier this month in exchange for payment (December 2).
The deal is one of the first of its kind by a music label and was facilitated by the A&P Agency, which has a significant presence in the NIL market.
In a statement, Stefan Aguilera, co-founder of A&P, outlined why working with Taylor Gang was a wonderful method to reach a younger audience.
“Right now in the music industry, there is no better marketing tool to communicate to the college demographic effectively except for our athletes that have a vast following consisting of students and alumni, which we have developed over the course of our relationship with our athletes,” Aguilera said.
“A&P Agency is the optimal choice for the music industry, not just because we represent the best athletes, but because nobody understands the college market better than us in terms of creative marketing.”
Wiz has had a prosperous 2022. Earlier this year, he moved into a $7.6 million home in Encino, California, after selling his previous mansion for $1 million more than he paid for it. The action was taken in advance of his sold-out joint tour with Logic to support his album Multiverse.
In addition to the Multiverse album, Wiz also collaborated with Big K.R.I.T., Smoke DZA, and Girl Talk on the Full Court Press album in 2022. He also collaborated with Juicy J on the Stoner’s Night tape.
On April 20, Wiz re-released his cult favorite mixtape Taylor Allderdice to digital download platforms, following the mixtape’s 10th anniversary on March 13.
