During his 2011 BET Cypher, which also included Busta Rhymes and Ludacris, 2 Chainz went back to a period when he was ready to slay his rhymes.
The Atlanta rapper reminisced on Instagram on Tuesday (July 4) about the day he received the call from Luda informing him that he will be taking part in the venerable yearly event.
2 Chainz began, “I remember this day like it was yesterday. Ludacris called when I was riding with my father to ask me to participate in the cypher. THIS DAY… I thought, “How?” He stated that we were going to hop on a plane and go shooting. After my father dropped me off at home, I grabbed [my] polo shirt, tru religion jeans, and Louis V shoes, and met them at clear-port.
“I didn’t even know what beat I was rapping to until I landed, but they kept telling me it’s a “break beat,” anyway,” he continued. Stay prepared so that you won’t need to get ready.
In his particular cypher group, known as the “Uncut” cypher, Chainz ended up rapping a smooth verse full of multiple punchlines that were rewind worthy.
He rapped, “If this was New Edition, I’ll be Bobby Brown/ Put the check over your head and call it Nike Town/ How could I be down, Free Boosie, wipe me down/ My credit card is black and proud,” over the James Brown instrumental.
Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Big K.R.I.T., Machine Gun Kelly, and Royce Da 5’9′′ were a few other rappers from the many cyphers that year.
Although Tity Boi was ready to fire bars on BET, he wasn’t ready last month when he examined a priceless piece of Death Row-era memorabilia owned by Snoop Dogg and Suge Knight on his show Most Expensive.
In a June episode of his GQ YouTube series, 2 Chainz enlisted Master Gee of the Sugar Hill Gang, singer-songwriter Pamola Ford, and museum curator Jeremy Beaver to sort through some legendary Hip Hop artifacts.
One of the standout items was a handcrafted leather jacket that Jeff Hamilton designed especially for Suge Knight in celebration of Snoop’s 1993 debut album Doggystyle. It included a leather embroidery of Tha Doggfather’s face on the back.
“That’s tough!” As he admired the vintage one-of-one jacket, 2 Chainz proclaimed. “There’s no doubt that [Jeff Hamilton] is the finest at manufacturing these coats. Man, bro, this is an authentic Suge jacket! The particulars are insane.
The artifact is genuinely priceless, but Beaver, who was holding the jacket, stated that it was assigned a price range of $200,000 to $250,000.
In response to the nauseating statistic, 2 Chainz hung his head and buried his face in his hands.
Beaver also displayed LL COOL J’s coveted boxing glove from his “Mama Said Knock You Out” music video, which is said to be worth between $75,000 and $95,000. The glove had also undergone authentication, establishing its “provenance” as a unique artifact.
