Tyler previously toured with Eminem as part of Odd Future in 2010. In a recent interview, Yelawolf recalled how Tyler knew every word to Eminem’s songs during that tour, humorously noting that it seemed Tyler wanted to prove his knowledge of the Detroit rapper’s music, even though Yelawolf was signed to Shady Records.

Yelawolf remembered, “Tyler was mouthing every single word to every song Marshall performed. It was like he was saying, ‘You’re signed to Eminem? I can rap this entire song to your face. You don’t know this one.’”

Tyler has frequently expressed admiration for Eminem in interviews and credited him, along with JAY-Z and Nas, for inspiring Odd Future’s creation. Earlier this year, he appeared on De La Soul’s Apple Music 1 show to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their iconic album, 3 Feet High and Rising. During that conversation, Tyler reflected on growing up in the early 2000s, observing how labels like Roc-A-Fella and Shady Records shaped his understanding of rap crews.

“I grew up in 2000, looking at the scene in 2002,” he shared. “You had Jay with Roc-A-Fella and Shady, Aftermath all these crews felt like family. I watched these dynamics unfold during my formative years.” He added that coming from Los Angeles, he felt a strong connection to the idea of crew loyalty, akin to a family bond.
